Silvio Meira is an outstanding professor at CESAR.school, emeritus professor at the UFPE Computer Center, and one of the founders of TDS Company and Porto Digital, where he chairs the board of directors. Retired full professor of the UFPE Computer Center, he founded in 1996 and was chief scientist of the C.E.S.A.R - Centro de Estudos e Sistemas Avançados do Recife until 2014. He was a fellow and faculty associate at Berkman Center, Harvard University, from 2012 to 2015, and associate professor at FGV-RIO Law School, from 2014 to 2017. Silvio Meira is a member of the boards of CI&T, MAGALU, MRV, BBCE, CAPES and deals with software engineering, innovation, new business, digital policies and strategies, education, creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship.
Author of over three hundred scientific articles and many hundreds of texts on information technologies and their impact on the economy, society and people, and author of the book Novos Negócios Inovadores de Crescimento Empreendedor no Brasil, published by Casa da Palavra in October 2013. Meira has supervised almost 150 Ph.D. and MSc theses and dissertations.
In 2007, the Época magazine elected him one of the 100 most influential Brazilians.
In 2011, he was chosen by Globo as the personality of the year of the Brazilian economy. In 2013, the Galileu magazine chose him as one of the 100 most influential Brazilians on the web. Silvio Meira is also an ASHOKA fellow and a maracatu drummer.
He is an electronic engineer by ITA, master in computer science by UFPE and Ph.D. in Computing from the University of Kent at Canterbury, UK.
