Guilherme founded República.org in 2016, intending to promote excellence in Brazilian public service by supporting continued education, recognition, and construction of knowledge on human capital in governments - and with the help of the arts and audiovisual. He was born in Rio de Janeiro and studied economics, documentary filmmaking, and theater. In 2003, alongside Nathaniel Leclery, he founded Matizar Filmes to produce independent documentaries on contemporary Brazilian issues. His full-length documentaries “Fala Tu” and “PQD” were screened at festivals around the world including the Berlin Film Festival, Cinéma Du Réel, Miami International, Rio Film Festival, and São Paulo International Film Festival. At Matizar, he produced “Jogo de Cena” and “Moscou” by Eduardo Coutinho, a mentor and inspiring figure for Guilherme and a generation of people in the audiovisual. In 2015, Guilherme participated in the Talent Campus of the Berlin Film Festival and debuted in the fictional cinema with “The Orphans of Eldorado”. Written, produced, and directed by Guilherme, the film is inspired by the homonymous novel by Milton Hatoum. Currently, Guilherme is preparing a second full-length fiction, “Neuros”, and concludes a documentary on people in long-term recovery from alcohol and drugs.
